Goals and Objectives
Goal: To increase the quality of social interactions and interpersonal relationships
· Increase skills related to inviting, joining in, initiating, maintaining, and ending conversations, encouraging others, and “growing” relationships and friendships
· Increase skills related to listening, making decisions, compromising, resolving conflicts, understanding others’ perspectives, and communicating opinions, feelings, and needs
· Increase a variety of skills related to social cognition, social communication and interaction, and relationship development
· Increase understanding of the meanings and mores of community
· Increase skills necessary for working and making decisions as a group
Goal: To increase self-related skills
· Increase self-awareness and understanding to enhance ability to fit in with a variety of peers.
· Increase ability to self-reflect and evaluate and adjust behaviors accordingly to make the “right” impression on others
· Increase ability to manage and communicate emotions and handle disappointments
· Increase self-esteem and self-confidence through experiencing successful social interactions
Goal: To increase community- and group-related social skills
· Increase quantity and quality of table manners
· Increase awareness and skills specific to public behaviors and manners
· Increase ability to discriminate between public and private behaviors
· Increase skills and tolerance for waiting in lines, waiting for food in a restaurant, and waiting for a turn
· Increase money-related skills for paying admissions, restaurant costs, tips, and other community expenses
