Therapeutic recreation incorporates recreation activities and social skills therapy into one engaging and effective program. Children with autism learn and practice the socials skills necessary to enjoy outings with family and friends — as well as other typical social activities and situations at school and in the community.
One of our most exciting and popular activities for kids ages 8 and up! Once-a-month group sleepovers provide an awesome opportunity for kids to connect, hang out and socialize. Community outings are offered during select sleepovers. Bowling, BBQs and swimming are a few examples of past sleepover activities. Sleepovers provide guided and facilitated therapeutic education to improve self-management skills and promote responsibility.
Sign up early to guarantee your spot. Drop-off: Friday at 5:00 pm. Pick up: Saturday at 10:00 am. Hotel and camping sleepover times may vary. Minimum enrollment of three participants.

Day Camp with a Mission! Increase your child’s social understanding and thinking with this unique summer camp offering. Camp Connections’ goal-directed therapeutic recreation uses a variety of environments and settings to promote the use and generalization of social, emotional, communication and behavioral skills for children in all areas of their daily living.
Camp Connections runs weekly from Monday – Thursday in ten, one-week themed blocks at Excelsior from 9-4 with early and late departure options. WMLC day camps are designed to accommodate your busy schedule. You may enroll your child in any combination of available half or full day sessions.
Block 1 Geology — June 11-14
Block 2 Bugs — June 18-21
Block 3 Art — June 25-28
Block 4 Inventors — July 9-12
Block 5 Earth & H2O — July 16-19
Camp Connections is designed to fit your busy schedule. Enroll your child in any combination of days or sessions. However, we encourage you to register for an entire one-week block and the full day (if your child is not taking a social skills class) because many activities are continued day-to-day and many friendships are built during day camp.
The schedule is arranged to accommodate attending a social skills group before or after day camp and that combination works well for many families.
